Program Details

You are eligible to register for the Guaranteed Ride Home if you commute into and/or out of Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady Counties in one of the following ways at least twice each week: walk, bike, carpool, vanpool, and/or bus.

When a GRH is needed, you must contact CDTA’s Call Center at 518-482-8822 to schedule the trip.

The program will provide for a maximum of six uses per year (limited to two times in any one month). Additionally, there is an annual (calendar year) cap of $300.

You must furnish your name, Guaranteed Ride Home registration number, your address and work location to the call taker to verify your eligibility.

The guaranteed ride home trip must begin from work and can end at home or another location (e.g. child care or park & ride lot). Emergency-related interim stops are permitted.

Emergencies Eligible for a GRH

  • Family Illness at home, work or school.
  • Personal Illness at work.
  • Personal medical emergency.
  • Family member emergency.
  • Left stranded by a carpool or vanpool.
  • Missed the last scheduled bus pick up.
  • Unscheduled overtime after arriving at work.
  • Any VALID emergency.

Other Restrictions

Taxi service is available only to those registered with iPool2's Guaranteed Ride Home program. Additional riders accompanying you must pay for their own cab fare.

Taxi service is non-exclusive (other customers might board during your trip) Customers will forfeit their right to Guaranteed Ride Home privileges if they do not use the service once it is arranged.
